My Fall 2020 Favorites

fall 2020 favorites cover

Winter is approaching, and by that I mean we’ve just experienced our first snow here in blustery Northeastern Ohio. It’s crazy to think of how much time has passed since life was put on hold⏤ we’re not making whipped coffee and watching Tiger King anymore, people! And to think, we all estimated COVID-19 would be gone by June. Ugh, I swear somewhere in the back of my mind I still think it’s March, but that illusion is quickly being shattered with college admissions season looming. I don’t feel ready to be an adult, but life is nothing without changes and I’m excited about this new chapter. Present-day, though, all things frosty are nearly upon us, and that means gingerbread, stockings, and Frank Sinatra music, at least for my family. But before we move onto (in my opinion) the BEST time of the year, I’d like to take a moment to reminisce on fall and share with you My Fall 2020 Favorites.

Without (physical) school, I’ve certainly had lots of time to online shop, so rest assured that all of these fall picks are top-tier! Below, you’ll find a compilation of all my favorite things this season, whether it be clothes, movies, accessories, or even food. Without further ado, I present My Fall 2020 Favorites.

1. Threshold™ Plush and Faux Shearling Plaid Comforter & Sham Set in “Cream”

I cannot recommend this Shearling Plaid Comforter Set enough! The design is unbelievably cute and perfect for a fall aesthetic. And it’s super comfy, too⏤ I’m actually snuggled up under it right now. It’s weighty, soft on both sides, and comes with two shams. I picked it up at Target a few months ago in the Full/Queen size and could not be happier! One of my friends even bought it as well and gave nothing but rave reviews. A very good purchase.

2. Urban Outfitters UO Patterned Pleated Mini Skirt in “Multi”

I am so, so, so in love with this UO Pleated Plaid Mini Skirt. Seriously one of my favorite items of clothing ever. It’s a pleated wrap skirt, with green, blue, yellow, and purple tones, and it’s crazy versatile! You could style this to fit so many different looks, from dark academia (button-up shirt + blazer) to 80s punk (combat boots & fishnets), even to vintage thrift (collared shirt + Nike crewneck). I wear it at every possible opportunity, including a trip to Chicago and very recently my Blair Waldorf costume for Halloween.

This skirt fits in all the right places and creates a very flattering outline. Plus, it’s adorable and totally worth every penny. Purchase it from Urban Outfitters here.

3. Beats by Dre Beats Studio 3 Wireless Over-Ear Headphones in “Desert Sand”

Now, real talk, I scooped these up during a Target Day sale in early October and luckily did not pay anywhere near retail price! If you are looking for a pair of these Beats by Dre Studio 3 Wireless headphones, hold up⏤ they go on sale almost weekly. That being said, I’m so glad I finally got them. These headphones have a luxurious, bass-heavy sound, complete with ANC. All of the colorways are very sleek and include gold accents, but I especially love the Desert Sand. Definitely recommend; each use feels pampering.

4. Cinnamon Sugar Bagels with Cream Cheese

A bit of a wild-card, but what can you expect from a recipe blog?! Half of one of these Cinnamon Sugar Bagels has been my go-to Sunday breakfast for a few months now. My favorite spot is our local Bruegger’s, which, for the uninitiated, is a chain coffee shop that serves bagels, soups, cookies, and coffee. The cinnamon sugar on the outside gets caramelized when the bagel is toasted, and omg, it’s so good. With a schmear of cream cheese and a mocha latte… heaven. If it’s good enough for Tyra Banks, it’s good enough for me.

5. Bath & Body Works Blueberry Maple Pancakes 3-Wick Candle

As a self-proclaimed candle junkie, I feel qualified to say that this is a great candle. I’m a person who usually finds sweet scents sickening, and don’t be mistaken⏤ this Blueberry Maple Pancakes candle is very sweet⏤ but in a way, it’s kind of so realistic that it skips being cloying and just smells delicious. I was so surprised that I loved it so much, but it’s exactly like a stack of warm blueberry pancakes, from the fresh pop of fruit to the sweet cakey scent of the pancakes, and of course the buttery maple. However, it is suuuper strong, so any candle-haters in your house will be opening the windows.

6. The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% Serum

The Ordinary serum with zinc & niacinamide

With thousands of glowing reviews and testimonials, I knew I had to try this The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 10% serum. The Ordinary writes that it’s intended to “reduce the appearance of skin blemishes and congestion”, but some active ingredients may also brighten the complexion. This product is vegan, cruelty, nut, and alcohol-free, and should show results within 6 weeks. However, I’ve been using the serum nightly for half that and am already noticing clearer skin. It hasn’t been a magic fix (so far), but I do have fewer spots. I would recommend this if you have light acne and sensitive skin.

7. Trader Joe’s Butternut Squash Mac & Cheese

At my most recent Trader Joe’s run, I decided to pick up a box of this Butternut Squash Mac & Cheese. I’d normally never buy frozen pasta, but Trader Joe’s hasn’t failed me yet, so I took the risk. It was totally worth it! The pasta was thick and cooked up to perfect al-dente-ness in the microwave. The three-cheese sauce features parmesan, gouda, and cheddar, and was weirdly rich for a frozen meal. The butternut squash was a good addition, and overall, this mac & cheese was delicious. Though it’s a fall favorite, I’ll be buying it all winter long.

8. Kylie Cosmetics High Gloss in “Daddy’s Girl”

I feel like on some level, every teenage girl in America idolizes Kylie Jenner. I had been meaning to try something from her line for a while, and when I saw this Kylie Cosmetics High Gloss in “Daddy’s Girl” at ULTA, I grabbed it on a whim. Kylie describes this gloss as a “sheer baby pink [shade] with copper shimmer” with “added shea butter”. In my opinion, “Daddy’s Girl” is a girly, glittery pink shade for everyday wear. The actual formula is thick and luxe without being too sticky. It feels moisturizing even after the gloss has worn off, just as advertised. The packaging is cute, it smells amazing, and a little goes a long way; after three months I’m only halfway through the tub. Any shade from Kylie’s High Gloss line would be a great buy.

9. The Great British Baking Show, Collection 8 (Season 11)

GBBO!

The Great British Baking Show is not a new thing for me; I have been obsessed for the last few years. However, Collection 8 debuted on Netflix in the US on September 25th, 2020, and I’ve only grown more enamored with the show since. Collection 8 stars twelve amateur bakers who navigate themed dessert challenges given out by celebrity chefs Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith. It’s the most delightful reality show ever, and I love expanding my baking knowledge by watching it. I’ve learned so much about technique and various British desserts, like perfect Victoria Sponge cakes or decadent custard tarts. If you love cooking and are looking for a new fall tradition, check out GBBO ASAP on Netflix (and let’s talk about it)!

10. My Brown Butter Double-Chip Pumpkin Cookies with Cranberries & Sea Salt

And finally, to top off My Fall Favorites 2020 list… my original, scrumptious Pumpkin Double-Chip Cookies! I know I may come off as biased, but I promise I wouldn’t hype these cookies so much if they weren’t genuinely amazing. Featuring caramel-y brown butter, pumpkin, white & dark chocolate, & cranberries, you absolutely cannot go wrong with these cookies. Check out the recipe here and make them for yourself! Since they were created, I’ve been making these every week; they’ve truly been a gamechanger for my fall. Delicious.
