My 2020 Christmas List/Gift Guide for Teenage Girls

snowy trees my christmas list 2020

It’s officially December!! So, basically Christmastime. And where I’m from, it certainly looks like it. I woke up to a winter wonderland this morning, and the snow has been drifting down steadily since. It’s packed onto the pine branches, standing inches thick on our porch banister, and dreamily coating the ground as far as the eye can see. My school even called the day off at 8 o’clock last night, which they are notorious for never doing. I’m in online school so it doesn’t really affect me, but I did decide to skip my assignments for the day, and it’s been lovely to just sit back and enjoy. Everything just feels so much more special when it’s snowy outside. Residents of Hawaii, I’ve always envied you, but not today.

It certainly feels jolly around here, and I couldn’t be happier! Andy Williams was right to call this the most wonderful time of the year. My family and I spent the day stringing holly around the mantle, hanging wreaths from the windows, and staggering wooden Santas around the house. We usually wait to decorate, but with the year it’s been (and the fact that there’s nothing else going on in our lives⏤ we take COVID very seriously), why not break out the Christmas decorations a little early?! I also whipped up a batch of these low-sugar, low-fat pumpkin doughnuts. They were delicious, and a perfect complement to the cozy vibe of the day.

To further celebrate the 1st of December and kick off this holiday season, I’ve decided to bring to you today my 2020 Christmas List! I wanted to share this simply for the Christmas cheer, but it also could be a great inspiration for writing a list of your own. I know plenty of people who struggle with deciding what to ask for, so here are a few ideas.

This list could also serve as sort of a gift guide if you’re a parent or adult shopping for the girls in your life. On a personal note, when I made this list, a factor I heavily considered was items that I’d use in college (only 9 months away, omg) since I’m a senior in high school now. If that fits your situation, read on! Some are less practical than others, but I set my focus mainly on items that I think would make me feel like more of a responsible adult (lol). Either way, I hope you enjoy, and without further ado, here’s my 2020 Christmas List!

1. Tiffany & Co. Mini Double Heart Tag Pendant Necklace

tiffany & co necklace.

I am obsessed with this necklace. It’s definitely one of the items here with a higher price point, but you really can’t go wrong with it. This mini double heart tag pendant is gorgeous and features the iconic Tiffany blue that we all know and love. There’s also a baby-pink style, but where’s the fun in that?! I featured this item on my list because it’s just the perfect, understated touch of class that I want to carry with me when I’m in college. It’s a sweet everyday necklace that calls upon memories of Breakfast at Tiffany’s and inspires one to be the ~fanciest~ version of themselves. So yes, I’m in love.

2. Lush Christmas Gift Set

winter wonderland gift set!

I’m a self-proclaimed self-care junkie. My shelves are lined with lotions and creams that don’t even do anything. It’s bad. However, I only want to further this love affair with a gift set from Lush. The British cosmetics company graces us with high-quality bath products all year round, but there’s something special about their Christmas collections. Just look at that packaging! All of the sets are good choices, so I’ve left it totally open-ended. Take your pick of creamy shower gels, nourishing body butters, & (of course) fizzy, dreamy bath bombs. All holiday-scented, too.

3. King Arthur Flour Chocolate Charlotte Cake Recipe Bundle

doesn’t that look amazing?!

I love to bake. If you don’t know that, I’m not sure what you’ve been reading on this blog, because it’s pretty much all I do. I’m also a massive proponent of King Arthur Flour’s baking products; they’re amazing every time. So when I saw their Chocolate Charlotte Cake Recipe Bundle, I was intrigued. The kit comes with an ornate Charlotte cake pan, a fudgy triple-cocoa blend, and a few other supplies to ensure the baking process goes smoothly. Then, you buy the rest of the ingredients and make your very own gourmet Charlotte cake, which is pretty much a chocolate cake ‘dam’ overflowing with cream and caramel. I’d never heard of this before, much less made one, so I was super excited to find this recipe bundle! Try this for any bakers in your life.

4. Trench Coat

a classic trench coat. this one is from Banana Republic. i love this one (it had elephants on the inside!) but it’s sold out.

Another thing I’ve been obsessed with this winter: trench coats. I love, love, love the aesthetics of this timeless statement piece; I find them so classy and collegiate. Photos of them flood my Pinterest boards as a “dream piece”, so of course I’m dying to get my hands on one (preferably tan, with black buttons). The great thing about this item is that you can get a really stylish one at any price point! ZARA sells some cute ones for around $40 each, and so does Forever 21. J. Crew also has one that’s nice, but on the pricier side. Of course, you could always take it wayyy to the other end of the spectrum and get your trench from Burberry. Go nuts, man.

5. Minimalist Movie Posters

an example

During quarantine, I discovered that one of my greatest passions is the art of cinematography. I feel that certain films and the techniques behind them can be so deeply relatable in a way nothing else can. I’ll stop myself here; I could write a whole essay about this (and have⏤ shoutout college supplementals!). So to make a long story short, I love movies. These posters are a great way to rep your favorite flicks (which, if you’re like me, are basically an extension of who you are). The understated style is so pretty and allows the emphasis to be put on the film.

My favorites are from Cinemalist on Etsy. I think theirs are very well put together and love the sharp look of them. However, there are many other shops, like Classicult, HypeHorns, and PeliculaPrint who offer the same idea with some stylistic differences. Most shops will even let you customize a poster to your liking! To conclude, I absolutely love these posters and think they’d be a great gift for any film junkie.

So, there you have it! My 2020 Christmas List, which can also double as a gift guide for any teenage girl with similar interests. I think any of these items would make perfect gifts, and hope this helps with the stress of holiday shopping.

Before I sign off, I’d like to offer a quick reminder to everyone as Christmas comes closer. As fun as it is to dream of the holidays and gift-giving, these things are not at all important compared to the health of yourself and those around you. Please, please stay safe during this pandemic and focus on the bigger picture. If going shopping or gathering the day-of might put others at risk, skip it. And even though this year has been tough, if you’re healthy and have a roof over your head, be grateful. Holidays are a great form of escapism, but we have to remember what truly matters right now.

Thank you so much for reading, and as always, I seriously hope you love this post!
